Gran Canaria, the island which gives the Canary archipelago its name, is the third largest island after Tenerife and Fuerteventura. It is a small continent of its own. Hardly anywhere else you can find such different landscapes and climatical zones within a place of a less than 2000 square kilometers: mountain ranges, desert land and sand dunes, tropical forrests, white sand beaches, high cliffs, ....
