How to use the CDROM

Here is a brief overview of the functions of this electronic book:

Navigator The navigator provides centralized access to the contents of the book. In the navigator, five levels are offered: Contents, Index, Full-Text Index, Bookmarking and a Clicking History.
Table of contents The table of contents is arranged in a tree structure, which allows the opening and closing of individual chapters as in Windows(TM) Explorer. Colored texts highlight chapter titles, black texts link directly to the related page when clicked.
Index The book offers an index, which corresponds to that of a normal printed book in its functionality.
Full-text index The book also offers a full-text index, which contains every word in the entire book - except connecting words (e.g. 'and', 'the', 'of' or 'with'), which have been explicitly excluded from the indexing. You can also link several words together with a logical AND, by holding down the "Ctrl" key, as you click the references concerned.
Links between pages The links between the between the pages consist of three different layers: First, the embedded links, which are highlighted in blue, second, the "See also" references (bottom left) and third, the buttons for scrolling forward and backward (bottom right).
Printing You can print out the pages of the book by displaying the appropriate page and then pressing the print button.

Please note that the extended navigational functions are only available in the Coimbra-based installable eBook. The Web edition provides only a small subset of these functions.
