L'viv, a city of approx 800000 inhabitants is one of the main cultural centres of Ukraine. It is located on the verge of the Roztochia Upland, approximately seventy kilometres from the Polish border, and about 160 kilometers from the eastern Carpathian Mountains. The historic city centre is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and has many architectural treasures.
