The area around Berchtesgaden is a well-known holidays resort inviting both for winter and summer activities. Among the many attractions are the Königssee ("King's Lake"), the Rossfeld panorama road, and the Kehlstein-Haus ("Eagle's Nest") which offers a stunning view of Berchtesgaden. Further, the Berchtesgadner Land is close to Salzburg, the well-known city of Mozart's birth place.
