Fogo (Portuguese for "fire") is a volcanic island in the Sotavento group of Cape Verde. Mount Fogo (Pico de Fogo) is the second largest peak in the Atlantic Ocean, rising to nearly 3,000 m above sea level. The volcano has been active in recent times, with its last eruption in 1995.
