Photos - Sal (Cabo Verde)

Sal (Portuguese for "salt") is an island belonging to Cabo Verde. It has an area of about 216 km2 and is part of the Barlavento group of islands. Sal is one of the three flat and sandy islands of Cabo Verde, with little to no vegetation. The island was discovered in 1460 and named Llana until salt deposits were found. Sal is of volcanic origin and is the oldest island of Cabo Verde.

Due to the endless white beaches and 350 days/year of sunshine, the island of Sal attracts about 50 percent of all Cabo Verde tourism (mainly concentrated around the southern end of Sal). If you are planning to visit Sal you may be interested in having a quick look at several photos of it. Click on the links below to view the pictures. We have taken any attempt to provide exact (GPS-based) coordinates of the positions where the photos have been taken.
